Mystery Shoppers For Bars and Clubs

Nowadays, bar property managers are employing mystery shoppers to evaluate their consumer satisfaction services. A visit to the bar can be a very enjoyable experience for agents as they get to taste some of the finest drinks available, but they have to fulfill the purpose of their visit also and not get drunk in the process. Here are certain things that they have to watch out for when they visit bars to assess their consumer satisfaction measures adopted there.

• The time duration taken by the host to greet the guests should be observed. The longer the time taken, the lesser the points awarded to the hosts. The type of greeting is also assessed. The host who gives a wholehearted welcome to his guests gets more points from the agents than those who do not receive their guests warmly. The hosts who are very friendly and make good eye contact with the guests are the ones who are assessed favorably. The cordiality of the hosts or the managers at the time the mystery shoppers leave the bar is also assessed, the more cordial the host the more favorably he is assessed.

• After seating themselves in the bar, the agents should proceed with their further evaluations as follows. They have to take a note of the time taken by the bartender to bring their ordered items. The table on which the beverages are served should be immaculate. The etiquette of the bartender should be assessed. The way he greets the agents and the way he presents the items ordered on the table are also factors that need to be observed. The bartender should shake hands with his consumers and he should serve the drinks properly. The mystery shoppers have to observe if the beverages were served on beverage napkins or coasters. The bartender should also be evaluated on the usage of selling techniques. Those that use techniques like offering the visitor something to eat, or promote a newly introduced beverage are the ones that are evaluated more positively than others.

• The agents should direct their attention to the beverage that they are served at the bar. They should see if it is garnished as specified in the menu or as desired by them. Ideally the additional drinks should arrive on time. The bartender is also supposed to attend to the other necessities of the consumer like providing them with ashtrays, or napkins as and when required.

• The mystery shoppers have to observe if all the sales were being reported promptly after serving each item ordered. The accuracy of the bills should be assessed. The amount of drink poured should be of a specific measure. The agents should observe if the bartender is pouring inappropriate quantities of the drink. The quantities mentioned in the bill should correspond to the exact quantities consumed. The cash handling should be ethical. The agents also have to observe if any flair bartending like flipping the beverage bottles was used during their visit to the bar.

• The mystery shoppers should also observe if the inventory manager is keeping track of all the bottles that are being served and seeing to it that none of them are being left unaccounted for and being placed back onto the storage rack in the appropriate storage place.

• The agents should also observe if any of the guests is getting intoxicated and if law and order is being maintained in the bars.
